Continent: Western Europe
Capital City: Berlin

Every time I visit Germany, I get slightly envious. With its array of dynamic cities, gorgeous nature, scrumptious food/drink and efficient public transport, it is a country which is incredibly easy and rewarding to live in and travel. Whatever you’re looking for as a traveller, you can probably find it in Germany and its wonderful charm makes it highly likely you’re going to want to keep going back for more.
My Germany Highlights
Here’s where I got to in Germany. Click the destination name for related blog posts.
If there’s a cooler European city than Berlin, I’m yet to have seen it. It’s an exciting, vibrant city stooped in history in a way that perhaps no other city in the world is. The fact that the Berlin Wall fell only 30 years ago and yet Berlin is now a world-class destination is pretty mind-blowing.
Munich is frequently near the top of the ‘Most Liveable Cities in the World’ list and it’s not difficult to see why. It has a fantastic Old Town; a diverse array of cultures and cuisines; phenomenally good green spaces and enough beer to sink a ship. A testament to what happens when you invest in a city.
I never really associated the Alps with Germany but if you’re visiting Bavaria, they are well and truly on your doorstep, offering breath-taking scenery, undulating peaks, crystal clear Alpine lakes and a castle or two. I was in awe.
