Every time I have to spell Kyrgyzstan, part of me regrets ever visiting there. However it’s a small price to pay for a country as incredible as this. Beautiful on a scale I can’t even describe with warm, friendly people and a manageable size that makes backpacking relatively easy. There is nothing about this country I didn’t like – go here before everyone else does.
My Kyrgyzstan Highlights
Here’s where I got to in Kyrgyzstan. Click the destination name for related blog posts.
A fairly quaint capital lies perfectly situated to explore natural and historical wonders nearby, including a gorgeous national park and a less famous leaning tower. There’s some delicious, hearty food to be had here too.
I don’t use the term ‘must-see’ too often but Karakol absolutely fits the bill. It’s a teeny tiny town situated amongst a series of natural wonders, some possible in a day trip, others worth exploring over several days.
For a quintessential Kyrgyzstani experience, grab a traditional yurt by the calm lakeside and escape reality for a few days by walking in nature. It’s truly unforgettable.
